Event Spotlight: The Cultural Salon

Tell us about your event:

"A beautiful evening of culture in the old city of Nablus, Palestine. We'll screen a film about a Palestinian woman who was diplomat to France, and a spooky ghost movie by a local director, then a poet, and finally a pop star playing a secret show - Lina Makhoul - she is so super special! I founded an organization to create very special cultural moments inside the West Bank at this time, because if we don't do it, nobody else will... and with the times being so challenging, everyone needs in-person cultural events to gather and live our lives beyond the headlines. We need to relax, and we also love to reflect on all of the aspects of life, just like you do outside of this conflict zone. We have been supporting culture in many ways, including events, since the summer of 2023."

What else should folks know about your event or organization?

"Palestine is known for the challenges we experience, but I wish more people knew about our incredible ancient cities brimming with the most exceptional art, culture, delicious food and traditional crafts. The Cultural Salon is the only organization in the West Bank elevating outstanding individuals who lead their specific field, and YOU can support us to support them. We appreciate your support, go check out the options on our website, thank you! We also invite folks from the West to come visit Palestine, either to volunteer for culture or simply as visitors curious to learn. Feel free to reach out!"

What's your favorite RSVPify feature so far?

"It's essential that we presented the text in both Arabic and English, as we are inviting the majority of local Arabic-speaking guests, but also some VIPs including some ambassadors. Not only could we publish the event page bilingually, but also with a font that works for Arabic, which isn't always the case. Open Sans looks really bad for Arabic text, but RSVPify had a good few options to choose from. I chose Abhaya Libre because it looks elegant in both languages."
