“Voice of Witness invites you to join Virginia Eubanks, co-editor of the upcoming oral history collection, Global Stories from the Automated Welfare State, in conversation with author Dave Eggers as they examine how the shift towards an automated welfare state has become a growing human rights crisis. This project uncovers the largely untold human stories behind the worldwide shift to digital tools that mediate access to basic needs such as housing, food, medical care, and more.”

Voice of Witness (VOW) is a nonprofit that advances human rights by amplifying the voices of people impacted by—and fighting against—injustice through oral history, education, and advocacy. VOW harnesses storytelling to create space for deep listening and learning from communities as part of broader efforts to dismantle systems of oppression.
