After the height of the pandemic, millions of people were searching for meaningful and human in-person experiences. Out of this demand, DC Social Collective was born. Originally created with the idea of providing memorable experiences for young professionals in the DC metro area, the organization has seen enthusiastic participation and demand for its events – and now hosts monthly gatherings throughout the region that draw hundreds of attendees.
But managing event ticketing, check-in logistics, attendance tracking, and reporting required a solution that would support DC Social Collective’s extraordinary growth and increasing demand for more complex and well-attended events. And that’s where RSVPify came in.
Recently, RSVPify sat down with Christopher Byrne (Founder of DC Social Collective), to learn to learn how the group leverages RSVPify to sell out events, showcase visual storytelling, and keep lines moving at the door.
DC Social Collective began as a post-COVID effort to rebuild community among young adults in the Washington, D.C. area—and quickly became a full event company. Chris related just how surprising the demand was for the company’s events:
“We quickly found that there were hundreds of young professionals that were looking at us as an opportunity to meet new friends and to enjoy themselves socially, and an avenue for them to build meaningful connections."
"We have sold out every event in the last year"
Today the team produces premium, themed experiences across private venues in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, attracting hundreds of like-minded, values-oriented young professionals each month. The collective now counts over 4,000 regular attendees coming annually to events, with events occurring on a monthly basis.
For DC Social Collective, the event page isn’t just a form—it’s the front door to the experience.
“For me, the most important aspect of the platform is the visual customization of photos and presenting. The ability to put photos in the description and show what to look forward to… past event photos get people really excited… a purpose which [RSVPify] serves for us is extremely important for sales. We're selling an experience."
Early on, DC Social Collective experimented with donations and a mainstream ticketing tool.
“We were barely breaking even through donations… when we decided to move to the ticketing aspect of our events, we started off using Eventbrite.”
Eventbrite “served our needs at the time,” but the team needed a more premium, customizable, and invite-forward presentation to match the brand and drive conversions.
“[RSVPify] seemed more exclusive and personable… that’s why I was attracted to using in the first place.”
Christopher first experienced RSVPify as an event attendee, and was impressed by what he saw from the guest experience perspective:
“I instantly thought it was a unique ticketing platform, because there's a lot of customization you can do for the ticket pages, the fonts, the themes for the ticket pages, and it seemed like a special ticket page that seemed more exclusive and personable to me."
RSVPify offered a variety of benefits for Christopher and DC Social Collective, from event marketing and promotion to day-of logistics like event check-in at the door:
RSVPify’s freedom for users to customize and own their entire event website and ticketing process is a particularly key benefit for DC Social Collective:
“The sliding images for the header… the ability to put photos in the description… past event photos… are extremely important for sales. Eventbrite didn't have that option."
The ability to integrate the event ticketing website and registration form flow into overall event marketing and promotional strategy also helps separate RSVPify from other ticketing platforms:
"Because of [custom questions on the registration form], the platform offered a unique funnel for the user, that drove them to the actual RSVP button to buy their tickets, and feel like they were getting a sort of special invite."
"I can compare it to Partiful, but it's much more than that. There's way, way more customization and ways to use it."
Beyond invitations and selling tickets, DC Social Collective also relies on RSVPify’s event check-in app to simplify day-of attendance and guest experience:
"I am the primary user but we have contributors that are [using] the check-in app, making sure people are on the guest list. It's been very, very user friendly...we can quickly search last names, first names."
"A lot of people have their QR codes on their phone and we scan people in like that - that's a great feature."
The ability to create custom ticketing tiers with RSVPify to incentivize event attendance or create unique experiences for different groups of attendees was also a highlight:
"We can offer early-bird pricing versus regular versus at-the-door pricing."
RSVPify has helped DC Social Collective translate social buzz into measurable, repeatable sales—and keep doors moving:
“The last three events that we’ve done paid advertising for were the best ticket sales in DC Social Collective history… well over 450 ticket sales… about 500-plus tickets by using the [RSVPify ticketing] platform.”
As DC Social Collective continues to expand the size, frequency, and variety of their upcoming events and experiences, RSVPify is thrilled to remain their supportive partner and offer the feature suite and elevated host and user experience to help fuel that growth.
